可能拿peja跟勇士换
Peja may not be in Indy long
This is why Ron-Ron may be the most talented franchise-killer this side of Terrell Owens.
Apparently, his disdain for playing for Sacramento is even greater than that of playing for the Pacers, the team he told - after, of course, going to the media - that he wanted to be traded.
Make no mistake about it. If the Pacers were motivated to move him before, getting him outta Indy takes on an even greater sense of urgency now.
This guy is killing this franchise. There's no way to get around it.
But there is good news on the way in the form of Peja.
No, Peja isn't going to help Indy become a better team. What he will do is help them land an even better player.
One of the teams that Indiana talked to about Artest was Golden State, with Troy Murphy being the guy the Pacers want.
Chris Mullin isn't stupid. There is no way you trade a player like Murphy for a basket case like Artest.
Now, if you're talking Peja for Murphy, well, that's something different.
I spoke with two different NBA sources today who each said that the Pacers want Peja in order to move him elsewhere as soon as possible.
One source mentioned three teams that Indiana would consider shipping Peja to. The other source mentioned two teams. The only team both mentioned was Golden State, with each saying that Indiana would get Murphy and send Peja to the Warriors.
That would be an awesome deal for both teams. Golden State is absolutely in love with jacking up 3s. Peja would actually give them a player who can make them.
And by moving Murphy, this would give rookie Ike Diogu a chance to play a bigger role, which the Warriors definitely want to happen.
Indiana is in desperate need of a little more toughness inside. While Murphy doesn't bring it in terms of toughness the way Artest does, he's not exactly a pushover, either.
I really think Murphy would give the Pacers a legitimate shot of getting past the first round of the playoffs. As they are now, I'm not convinced that this team will even make the playoffs.
They should, but with this Artest thing hanging over them, plus injuries - some real and some not so real - you just don't know whether this team can put it together in time to make a playoff push or remain a team that's getting pushed around by everyone ... even Atlanta!
