As it turned out, however, there was no need for Reggie Miller to pull things out in Madison Square Garden. The Pacers had Danny Granger. And Jamaal Tinsley. And Sarunas Jasikevicius. And Austin Croshere. But the bench was thin because Fred Jones sat out the game with a sprained ankle and Stephen Jackson couldn't play in the second half after suffering a sprained thumb. Replacing the injured Jackson in the lineup for the second half, Granger was a factor at both ends of the floor. In the fourth quarter his defense may well have been the key, as three times he rotated into the lane to block drives by New York guards that appeared headed for layups. The biggest came with the Pacers nursing a 99-96 lead in the final minute. Sarunas Jasikevicius made four 3-pointers on his way to 18 points, adding four rebounds and three steals. Granger had 12 points, six rebounds and three blocks, all in the second half. The point totals for O'Neal, Tinsley, Jasikevicius and Granger all were season highs. The Pacers shot 45.2 percent and committed just nine turnovers. Marbury's 25 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals led the way but he was 8-of-23 from the floor. Jamal Crawford scored 15 but shot 4-of-14.
