Sure enough, Glen Davis was captured on security-cam video during his meltdown early Saturday at an Orlando motel. The Magic are embarrassed again by his behavior, but not surprised that Big Baby threw a tantrum and a computer device, given his checkered track record. This time, Big Baby was seen flinging a front-desk manager's keyboard into a wall. His frustration did not stem from trying to log onto the Obamacare website. Davis lost it when he was apparently told there were no rooms available at the Travelodge at 4 a.m. This raises troubling questions, such as, "What was Big Baby doing at a Travelodge?" Nothing against Travelodge, where the slogan is "Stay Close To Adventure," but Davis makes $6 million a year. What a young man is doing checking into a motel at that hour is his business, but here's the biggest question facing the Magic now: What are they to do with a combustible but capable 6-foot-9, 300-pound power forward for the next two seasons? Davis just killed what little trade value he had after the keyboard toss. Then again, everyone in NBA circles has known for years that Big Baby is a ticking time-bomb of immaturity. Ron Artest and Michael Beasley are currently employed, so there are suckers born every transaction. Speaking of Otis Smith, he had acquired Davis in a 2011 deal for Brandon Bass on the same day the Magic decided to amnesty Gilbert Arenas — another of Smith's character misjudgments. And this past weekend you can update the timeline of that Baby-Bass trade: After Bass leads the Boston Celtics to a win against the Magic last Friday night in Orlando, Davis was gearing up for his Travelodge tiff downtown. Big Baby's contract expires after 2014-15 (paying him $6.4 million this season and $6.6 million next). The Magic have hoped there was a chance they could move him after he returned from a foot injury that has kept him out since last January. At least I think they're going to play Davis. He said recently he's healthy enough to practice. But with marquee lottery prizes awaiting the biggest losers, who knows if the Magic wouldn't shelve him all season? That move would prevent Davis from helping them win and give him absolute freedom to make motel reservations online. As the Magic witnessed last season, Davis was enjoying a career year before shoulder and foot injuries derailed him — and a lottery-unfriendly 12-13 start. Big Baby issued an apology Tuesday – via Twitter. "In regards to the incident that occurred on Friday night, I want to sincerely apologize for my actions. There is no excuse for what I did. I was obviously wrong and I take full responsibility. I apologize to the Magic, my fans and the city of Orlando." I asked to speak to Davis before Tuesday's practice, but I was told he was receiving treatment. Hope it was for anger management. Seriously, he has displayed a hair-trigger temper the past few seasons. Glen broke a door at the team's Amway Center training facility, swinging it in a rage after Stan Van Gundy kicked him out of a practice. The Magic suspended him. He was involved in a verbal confrontation with fans who were heckling him. He got into a fight when he was with the Celtics and was suspended, breaking his hand while punching … a friend. The Magic said the matter will be handled "internally." They must suspend Davis and strip him of his co-captaincy. Davis was not arrested. The Travelodge did not press charges when police arrived. TMZ reported that the Magic made financial restitution for the abused keyboard, although the club would not comment.
