First, if we could bring in Mayo and Zbo for J-rich and Bass it would be great for both teams. Orlando would get Zbo for the rest of the year and a young 2 guard to take over that spot and keep JJ as a player coming off the bench. Memphis would get J-rich who would fill their 2 guard needs, as well as be a cheaper option to keep this offseason. They also get a good, young, cheap PF to replace Z-bo. Since they are not going to resign Z-bo, they get a replacement at a cheaper rate. They can then resign Gasol and still have money to upgrade at the two or other spots if they cannot resign J-rich. However, you need to look past the immediate. After this season Z-bo will recieve a max contract from some team. That is huge because if the magic do not want to resign him (sort of like there is already talk that they wont resign J-rich if they do not win a championship this year) they can work out a sign and trade (provided it is still allowed in the new CBA) which could bring in a large trade exception and a first rounder. These pieces can be huge assets to use next year to bring in a different star. Imagine being able to package Jameer (expiring), a couple first rounders, and a huge TPE, JJ or Anderson, which would all be possible with this move, for a player like Paul or Williams. It's like chess, in order for the magic to get that second superstar, they need to think a few moves ahead. Z-Bo could very well be the key to getting the assets we need to make that possible. Also, if Z-bo did leave this offseason, and we traded only J-rich and Bass, We would open PT for Clark next season as the backup 4, As we saw against the lakers, with Bass and Anderson both healthy, Clark's minutes dropped to 10. For all you saying we can do the same with J-rich, you are wrong. First, he is not a max player this year or next. Therefore, the TPE we could get back in a sign and trade, would not be a large and teams would not be willing to give up a first rounder in that deal either. Its just my opinion, but along with trying to win a title, we also have to try to build up as many assets as possible to bring in a superstar to play alongside howard. Z-bo provides a better opportunity to collect those assets than J-rich and that is why, if possible Otis should make this deal. --
