On the site, www.firebrianhill.org, Thomas writes: "(Hill's) teams have always underachieved to one degree or another, just as this one is doing now. He either cannot see the need for, or refuses to, make adjustments." . . . Magic star center Dwight Howard said a first-round playoff matchup against Detroit wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, even though the Pistons have dominated the first two meetings this season. Said Howard: "I'd love to play these guys in the playoffs. It would be good for us. We could show the world what we could do. But hopefully we're not doing it as the eighth (seed). We're better than the eighth-placed playoff team." . . . Brian Hill was highly complimentary of Detroit's all-star backcourt of Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton. Hill said the duo will eventually go down as one of the best ever. Said Hill: "They are one of the best backcourts of all time, much like Isiah (Thomas) and Joe (Dumars). If businesses were operated based on internet polls and angry e-mails, every columnist at this newspaper would have been fired long ago. The Magic still are in the playoff hunt. If the team doesn't make the postseason in the woefully weak Eastern Conference, then Hill's future legitimately can be called into question.
