Woking-born Weller made his name with mod band the Jam, formed in 1976. In 1982, he split the group to front the Style Council in a dramatic about-turn. He embarked on a solo career in 1992 with the release of an eponymous album. Heliocentric, his last album, was named after the studio in which it was recorded. And for Noel it is a change of style. But he has said there are no plans to break up Oasis, one of Britain's biggest musical exports in the 1990s.
