Camby's time to shine: Denver's Marcus Camby is expected to be named the
Defensive Player of the Year on Friday.
The league typically times announcements so the winner can receive the award
at home.
The truth about coaches: Nuggets coach George Karl said too much is made of
the between-games adjustments made by coaches in playoff series. The dirty
little secret of the playoffs, he implied, is the coaches don't make as much
difference as some of them believe they do.
"There's always the what-if games," Karl said. "What are they going to do?
How are we going to react?
"We've done that for two days, probably to the point of frustration and
confusion. It's fun to play coach before a game, at halftime, and after a
game. It makes it out to be we're this really important person. The truth of
the matter is that in an equal series, what the coaches do is balance each
other out. They make it to where the players have an opportunity to do what
they can do."
