This time we chatted with Cycle 1 runner-up, Shannon Stewart. Since the conservative good girl goes all the way back to Day One, we were dying to know what her Cycle 17 experience was like. I was shocked and I wasn't, because I'd always thought they would do an All-Star season, I just didn't when and I didn't know if they would be calling me. So I was definitely kind of surprised and I was very excited because they said the All-Star show would be about branding. I thought that was a great opportunity and a great idea. Well, all of us have different things that we’re interested in. Lisa [D’ Amato] likes singing, I like hosting and speaking and... [Laughing] I don’t know what all we’re allowed to say. Basically, I’m very interested in motivational speaking. I’ve spoken in several places, in New York City, Australia, all over the world. And I really like being able to share my story with others and encouraging them that they can still achieve their dreams even if they keep their standards high. Throughout these years that I’ve been modeling I’ve remained true to who I am no matter what. I think that’s important—especially in this business people are always trying to get you to do things you don’t want to do. And I definitely have a backbone and I definitely know who I am and at the end of the day if it goes against what I believe or my standards, I won’t do it. Money and fame and fortune doesn’t buy me at all. Now there’s a clip from the new cycle where they want you to pose in lingerie. What was that about? Well, the first photo shoot that we had they wanted to put me in lace underwear and I haven’t shot underwear since the first season of Top Model. I remember watching it back and I was like, Whoa! That’s not something I want in my brand and that’s not something I want to do. I want to save lingerie for my husband. When I think about underwear I think about intimacy and I think about the bedroom, and that’s not something that I feel like the world needs to see. So I definitely had to stand up for myself and I chose a bathing suit over the underwear. No not at all. I had so much fun with all the other girls. I love all of them and one thing that I remember from Cycle 1 was that you get to meet great girls that you may not have met otherwise if it wasn’t for America’s Next Top Model and being there and living with them. I have fond memories of all of them. I really had a good time. And you know, I’m not one to push my belief on someone else. I try to live my life by example. So if somebody is interested in my faith or what I believe in, I will be more than happy to share it with them, but I don’t like to shove it down somebody’s throat. I don’t know if I was a mentor. I definitely had a few girls — Alexandria [Everett] said that she was so excited that I was in the house, that she has looked up to me for my season. Dominique [Reighard] was like “You’re the O.G. in the house!” So I definitely had people who had seen me and were like. “I saw your season and I wanted to be on Top Model, too.” But I wasn’ t really that much older than the other girls. I know Kayla [Ferrel] is 20, I believe, so there were a few girls I’m several years older than. But Lisa, she’s 30, she’s older than me, so I wasn’t the oldest. I don’t know if people looked to me as a mentor but that’s fine if they did. （跳过，这段主要是说其他人对她的印象，还有她不是这季中最老的参赛者 XD） How do you think the show has changed since Cycle 1? It definitely has changed. It’s changed in more ways than I can even explain. Some good, some bad. I mean on my season [co-creator] Ken Mok was so amazed because we ran out of camera crew members, so he had to grab a camera and film us. It was just so wild. They just had a passion to really define America ’s Next Top Model. One word that comes to my mind was “raw”. Well, I thought we would see her a little more than we did, but I kind of got spoiled on Tyra on Season 1 I guess because it was the first one and her name was on the line. She really was involved in everything. From editing, to production, to photo shoots. We really spent a ton of time with her on Season 1. And so on this All-Star show we really only got to see her on eliminations, so that was kind of different. Since we had all been on before, I would say that we kind of knew what we were getting ourselves into. But this one was on a different scale. There are some huge personalities in the house. Like huge! So they really did a good job with that one. It’s definitely going to be a fun show to watch, I’m sure. And everyone wants to win or they wouldn’t be there. I’m very competitive. I played sports growing up, and I like to win, and I like compete, so that will me out on the All-Stars. Well, that did help me out on the All-Stars. 宿舍里的气氛如何？ 因为大家都参加过ANTM，所以我们都知道自己淌了什麽混水。不过这次不一样的是，有些 人真的「很有个性」，真的！……大家都想赢，不然就不会来参加。而我也满好胜的。 Who's the biggest diva? Um, I guess I will leave that to the viewers to determine who they think the divas are. 谁是女王之王？ 让观众自己去判定吧。 Would you say everyone’s got their stuff together a bit more this season, or is there even more drama than ever? Well, with 14 girls living in a house all vying for one prize, there’s bound to be drama. Especially when you have ginormous personalities. The public doesn’t really see what goes on behind the scenes. I mean, it’s a really stressful environment. You’re living with people you don’t know, who you may have seen on TV. You come in there, you’re away from your family, you can ’t use the phone a whole lot. The whole environment just creates different emotions. There’s a lot that happens and you’re only seeing snippets of it— like you don’t get any sleep, you don’t really get food. We do like to eat. You’re trying to deal with that while still trying to compete and perform. （跳过，主要是说节目上看到的并非事情的全相，录实境秀压力是非常大的。） How does the All-Stars experience compare to your real life as a model? My agents know that I don’t pose nude, I don’t wear sheer, and I don’t pose in lingerie. So they’re not going to send me to a casting or a job that involves that. And it’s not going to cost the client any money because I’m not going to go out to even try to get the job. On this All-Stars show, I’m being put in circumstances where if I don’t do something, if I don’t wear something, basically, I’m being judged on that. Where in the real world I don ’t have to do that kind of stuff. 全明星赛和现实中的模特生活有什麽不同？ 我的经纪公司知道我不拍裸照、不穿透明衣服拍照，也不拍内衣照。所以遇到这类的工作 时，他们压根儿就不会叫我去试镜。客户也没有任何损失，因为我根本就不会去试这类的 工作。但在全明星赛里，我如果不做这些事，就会被批评、论断。但在现实生活中，我并 不会遇到这种情形。 How did you deal with having almost no contact with your husband for several weeks at a time? Oh my gosh, it was so hard. To not even be able to use the phone, that was a struggle. I was busy, so it was easier for me to deal with because there were so many things that I had to do. It was more him because he wasn’t working 24/7. It was definitely hard. [Laughing] I don’t want to do it again.
