And when I did, what took me by surprise was how physical and fast the game is. 刚开始时大山姆没有常常用我。所以我坐在板凳上仔细地观察了英超比赛， 让我惊讶的是原来（英超）比赛是如此的筋肉和快节奏。 "You have so many fast players. For me that wasn't too bad because I've always been quick. I used to run competitively at school. I maybe could have done it professionally but football was what I wanted to do. 英超有非常多速度飞快的球员。当然对我来说不是什麽问题， 我的速度也不差，以前在学校时常常参加赛跑，甚至也许有可能成为职业选手， 不过足球才是我真正的最爱。 "So I could handle the speed but what was difficult was communication. I didn't speak English and I couldn't understand what my team-mates were saying during games. 所以速度不是问题了，问题在和队友的沟通上。 我不会说英语，也完全听不懂队友们在比赛时想说些什麽。 "Mark Viduka and Obafemi Martins were my main friends when I arrived. They used to come to my house. I didn't really speak English but we managed to get along anyway. We had players like Mark, Oba, Michael Owen and Geremi and we thought we were going to be challenging for a place in Europe. In Spain you work on tactics all the time because that is what the football is about over there. Everything is a lot more orderly. In England it's all about being fast and physical. The thing was that he didn't pick me either and I heard that he didn't want me at the club. I just felt so bad for the whole city and the fans. Afterwards it was strange for us all. There were lots of rumours about us all being sold but that never happened. We all told ourselves that we wanted to stay, be positive and get back in the top flight.
