Barton agrees Magpies move

Skysports.com understands that Joey Barton has agreed a deal to join
Newcastle and will sign a five-year contract at St James' Park.
Despite rival interest from West Ham, the Manchester City midfielder
travelled to the North East on Tuesday to meet Magpies boss Sam Allardyce and
subsequently underwent a medical.
Skysports.com can reveal he passed the routine medical and has agreed
terms with The Magpies.
The transfer now appears very close to completion with the player's agent
Willie McKay confident it will go through without any hitches.
"The move is imminent," McKay told skysports.com.
"He has agreed terms and passed his medical. It's a five-year deal."
