UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd has discussed the possibility of power forward Kevin Garnett not playing in both games of back-to-back sets this season. "When you look at KG, probably no back-to-backs, but those are just topics right now that are being thrown around," Kidd said Friday. The Nets will play 20 sets of back-to-back games. Garnett is 37, and the Nets want to make sure their newly acquired veteran stays healthy throughout the regular season. Brooklyn has plenty of depth behind Garnett with newcomer Andrei Kirilenko, who can start, along with Reggie Evans and Andray Blatche. Garnett, a 15-time All-Star, averaged 29.7 minutes in 68 games for the Boston Celtics last season. He has not averaged more than 32.8 minutes per game since being traded to Boston prior to the start of the 2007-08 season. Kidd was at a news conference at Nassau Coliseum on Friday. The Coliseum is undergoing a significant renovation, and additional details on the project were announced.
