Mikki Attracting Interest
With Nets apparently limiting their interest in Mikki Moore
to three years and about $10 million, other teams have started
calling Moore's agent, Mark Bartlestein. The NBA's regular
season leader in field goal percentage has reportedly gotten
interest from Golden State, Utah, Houston, Dallas, Chicago and Memphis.
Moore has said he would take less money to stay with the Nets
who gave him his first real opportunity in a 10 year NBA career.
Sean Williams Understands His Second Chance is Now
Sean Williams met the media Monday and, as one might expect,
most of the questions were about the risk rather than the
reward of taking him at #17. Williams' problems
with marijuana--an arrest and a failed urine test--took up
most of the presser. Williams said that while his problems
at Boston College were "well documented" he added,
"I'm looking forward to moving on and getting a clean start." Said Ed Stefanski
"I wouldcompare him to a young Kenyon Martin." Williams will wear No. 51.
Sean Williams Could Be Among Top Rookies
He was only drafted #17 but people already think his talent--and the Nets'
need for an athletic, shot-blocking big man--could mean a lot of minutes
for Sean Williams next season. Both the NBA's Rookie Report and Hoopsvibe's
Rookie Rankings put Williams as among the top rookies next season.
There are caveats, of course: his off-court problems and Lawrence Frank's
reluctance to play rookies early in the season
