Some threw such a tag on Yordano Ventura when he was blitzing his way through low Class A with a 95-100 mph fastball that included some effort. Several scouts who have seen Lopez recently think it would be foolish to throw a reliever projection on him. He seemed more comfortable with his curveball than his changeup, but he showed no reluctance to throw either pitch, as he used them early in counts to get strikes, and late in counts to get strikeouts. He never really faced a situation where he had to show if he could hump back up to higher velocities to get out of a jam, but he did show that he could maintain quality stuff into the middle innings. Giolito pairs his top-of-the-scale fastball with one of the better curveballs in the minors. Also, Giolito is a mammoth 6-foot-6, while Lopez is a much more compact 6-foot.
