The Washington Nationals may be in last place in the National League East but
the team appears to want to be buyers at the trading deadline rather than
sellers.
MLB.com reports that the
Nats called the Chicago White Sox to ask about the
availability of outfielder Carlos Quentin(notes) as well as the
Arizona
Diamondbacks to see what it would take to get hurlers Dan Haren(notes) or
Edwin Jackson(notes).
"
Our biggest need now and at the trade deadline is starting pitching," Rizzo
told the site.
The players that Washington is getting the most calls about are Adam
Dunn(notes) and Josh Willingham(notes).
