(1) @Joelsherman1: Today is 1st official day teams can use 60-day IL.
(1) @BryanHoch: Frankie Montas will have surgery on Feb. 21, Aaron Boone said.

Boone said that the best case scenario would allow Montas to return at some
point in the second half of the season. (2/2)
@pcaldera: Frankie Montas to have arthroscopic shoulder surgery next week,
per Boone. Best case is a late season return to Yanks.
@MaxTGoodman: Domingo Germán is the likeliest choice to step in for Frankie
Montas with his experience. Clarke Schmidt could get an opportunity as well.
(2) @BryanHoch: Matt Blake said that he is optimistic about Nestor Cortes
(hamstring) being ready for Opening Day. Cortes has continued playing catch
but he is not running at the moment.
(3) @BryanHoch: Michael King said that he has thrown about 10 times from
a mound, including facing hitters. He's throwing all of his pitches and
believes he'll be ready for March 30.
(4) @BryanHoch: Gleyber Torres is envisioned as the #Yankees' starting second
baseman, Aaron Boone said. DJ LeMahieu is once again the rover, with Anthony
Rizzo at 1B and Josh Donaldson at 3B.
@YESNetwork: Aaron Boone gives his outlook on Gleyber Torres for 2023.
"I expect him to be hopefully a really impactful player in the middle of our
lineup."

Anthony Volpe has played two games at second and three games at third, and all

week. He has thrown from the mound five times and expects to be ready for
Opening Day.

(10) @BryanHoch: DJ LeMahieu said that he's all-in for his 'rover' role,
playing 1B, 2B and 3B in the #Yankees infield.
"I'm excited. I really like playing different positions and moving around.
I think it fits my skill set well and helps our team."

(11) @BryanHoch: There’s no set plan to have Aaron Judge play LF this spring,
but Aaron Boone said it’s on the table. That would allow Giancarlo Stanton
to play RF more frequently in the Bronx.

(12) @BryanHoch: Frankie Montas had surgery to clean up his right labrum.
They did not have to touch the rotator cuff. He can begin a throwing program
in 12 weeks.
(13) @BryanHoch: Ben Rortvedt had surgery today to address an aneurysm of the
posterior artery near his left shoulder. No baseball activities for a month.
13.1 @RailRidersTT: Rob Brantly and Max McDowell, who had been with the Yankees
since the 2020 alternate site and offered some familiar depth at catcher, are
no longer in the organization. Brantly signed with the Blue Jays this offseason
and McDowell left for the Phillies.
