Didi set to return
The Yankees will welcome regular shortstop Didi Gregorius back to the lineup
for the first time this season Friday. He'll have missed the first 19 games
of the year due to a strained right shoulder he suffered while playing in the
World Baseball Classic with Team Netherlands.
Gregorius has been playing rehab games with with High-A Tampa. Ronald
Torreyes has taken over the 26-year-old admirably, hitting .290 with a homer
and 13 RBI heading into Thursday. Torreyes will reassume the utility role he
had last season.

Sanchez has rehab date
Catcher Gary Sanchez (right biceps strain) will start his rehab assignment at
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Cashman didn't say how long it
might last -- "he'll play at least one game," the GM said -- and Sanchez will
DH and catch.
Like Torreyes, Austin Romine has proved more than a capable starter in
Sanchez's place. Romine has hit .293 with a homer and five RBI, mostly from
the bottom of the order.
