标题[洋基] When a deadline is not a deadline

If the Yankees fail to obtain a starting pitcher today, there is no need to
panic or resign yourself to The Summer of Sidney.
The type of players the Yankees want would be high-priced veterans than they
get for a B-level prospect or two. Those type of pitchers are likely to clear
waivers and be available in August.
We’re talking Jarrod Wasburn, Vicente Padilla, Paul Byrd, Bronson Arroyo,
guys like that. They all wouldn’t clear, but one or two of them would.
The competition in the AL - Boston, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles - is not looking
for No. 5 starter types.
Meanwhile, no sign that the Yankees will get Washburn before the deadline.
But it only takes one call.
