Andy Pettitte throws 6 scoreless innings in a minor league game BY PETER BOTTE DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Sunday, March 30th 2008, 5:13 PM Andy Pettitte is slated to be activated off the disabled list and make his scheduled start in the Yankees' fifth game of the season Saturday after his final test Sunday in Tampa went "as well as we could've hoped," GM Brian Cashman said. The bigger question will be how the lefty will be received when introduced at this afternoon's Opening Day ceremonies at the Stadium following his inclusion in the Mitchell Report over the winter and his subsequent admission to using HGH. "I think it'll be just fine. It's Yankee Stadium and I think Andy's been great to acknowledge everything he's been through," Jorge Posada said. "He's been an honest guy, a guy who's done a lot for this team, and he's going to be probably the hardest ovation of all, after (Derek) Jeter and probably A-Rod. "I think it's easier for guys to have a clean slate and tell the truth and keep going. Andy did the right things and everything in spring training and talked about it. Now it's over." Saying he accomplished "exactly what I wanted to do," Pettitte, who hadn't pitched since March 17 due to back spasms, allowed one hit over six shutout innings (77 pitches) in his minor league outing in Tampa before flying to New York Sunday night.
