Kennedy crucial for 2008? Add it up
Putting my public school education to good use, just did this quick stat:
Total innings pitched (major, minors and postseason) in 2007
Ian Kennedy 165.1
Joba Chamberlain 116
Phil Hughes 115.2
This perhaps sheds a little light on why the Yankees were so interested in
hanging on to Kennedy. Unless they abandon all common sense, Chamberlain
won’t be throwing 200 innings next season. More like 175. The same is
probably true of Hughes.
But Kennedy is at a stage in his conditioning where he could go 200 fairly
easily. Given that Hughes and Chamberlain will have to be skipped from time
to time, Kennedy could prove critical.
Kennedy could be a nice fit, given that Wang, Pettitte, Hughes and
Chamberlain are power pitchers. His finesse should be effective.
Mike Mussina will figure in the mix somewhere, perhaps as the No. 5 starter.
But given his uneven performance last season and age, it’s hard to count
on him for much more than 25 starts.

2007年他投了165.1局，那明年要加到200局，应该还可以
可是Joba and Phil今年大概都只投116局左右
所以能增加的局数，最多大概是17X局吧？！
(记忆中，对年轻投手，下一年增加的投球局数不能比上一个球季所投的
超过50局以上，要不然可能会增加受伤的可能性)
