Dividing up the playoff money

重点: 只要全年在出赛球员名单中的球员, 包括全年躺在DL中都能到完整一份季後赛奖金
1. 有很多人写Email问Peter Abraham问关於洋基对季後赛奖金分配的投票结果如何。
2. 其实很简单, 经由集体协调的认同, 大联盟将季後赛收益的一部份分给球员。每个球队
得到的百分比就看球队多接近世界大赛的冠军。以去年的红雀队而言, 球员一份完整的
奖金值362,173美元。
3. 这份奖金要看每个球队决定得到的奖金如何分配。基本上, 任何整年都在出赛名单中的
球员(包括在伤兵名单内的球员)都可得到完整的一份奖金。这对Carl Pavano和
Humberto Sanchez实在是好消息。完整待在出赛球员名单的球员可以决定其他的每个人
可以得到多少奖金。原则上, 奖金的数目是以在25人名单中服务的时间决定的。所以,
洋基全年有49人在出赛名单中, 这些球员都会依服务的时间得到部份的奖金。
3. 球员也把奖金分给总教练、教练及各种相关的人员。这是一份很庞大的名单, Peter或
许会有遗露, 但就他记得的洋基的人员包括:
两个训练员
体能教练
三个打击练习的投手
一位按摩师
两位翻译人员
一位球员休息区的主管
各种球员休息区的服务人员(可能也包括RJ帮他扫地的小胖弟)
旅行移动时的秘书人员
媒体关系的主任
4. 你可能会觉得洋基队怎麽会对这一大串的人员这麽慷慨, 但洋基球员在幕後就是一群
这麽慷慨的家伙, 因为他们付担得起嘛。
I received a few e-mails asking about the Yankees voting on playoff shares.
It’s pretty simple. Via the collective bargaining agreement, Major League
Baseball kicks back a portion of its postseason revenue to the players. Every
team in the playoffs gets a percentage with the most going to the World
Series champion.
For the Cardinals last season, a full share was worth $362,173.
It’s up to each team to determine how that money is divided up. Basically,
any player who was on the roster all season (or on the disabled list)
receives a full share. This is good news for Carl Pavano and Humberto Sanchez.
Those players who were on the roster all season decide how much everybody
else gets.
In essence, portions of shares are awarded based on service time on the
25-man roster. All told, the Yankees have used 49 players this season and all
will get something whether they are still with the organization or not.
The players also give out partial shares to the manager, coaches and assorted
staff members. This is a huge list of people. I’m probably forgetting some
people, but the crew for the Yankees incudes:
Two trainers
Strength coach
Three BP pitchers
One massage therapist
Two interpreters
One clubhouse manager
Assorted clubhouse attendants
The traveling secretary
The media relations director
You can tell a lot about a team by how generous they are to the people behind
the scenes The Yankees are usually a fairly charitable bunch. Then again,
they can afford to be.
