The Mets lost out in the Tom Glavine sweepstakes this weekend when the 41-year-old left-hander singed with his original team, the Atlanta Braves. That means the Mets still need another veteran pitcher to go along with (supposedly) 38-year-old Orlando Hernandez and 36-going-on-50-year-old Pedro Martinez. Here are some options. 5. Kenny Rodgers – The 43 year-old is a free agent and just fired Scott Boras as his agent on Friday. Maybe that will help him pitch better in New York than last time. 4. Tommy John – The surgery that bears his name is that good. Plus, he’s only 64. 3. Barry Bonds – He can’t run anymore, so why not try him on the mound? If he homers every game, he can’t be that much of a waste. 2. Roger Clemens – He’s awful at retiring, and his summer return would be timed perfectly for the inevitable El Duque injury. 1.
