昨天我的病人去做EEG检查，是个80多岁的病人，有点dementia
我今天收到EEG的报告，第一句话令人喷饭，它是这样写的：
The EEG was performed when the patient was confused.
我猜他的意思可能是：「在做EEG时，病人意识并不清楚」
那麽，应该写成 The EEG was performed when the patient was not conciously clear. 或者
The EEG was performed when the patient was not in clear consciousness.
总之，when the doctor read the EEG report, he was very much confused.
医院里的英文，常常词不达意，有时还蛮好笑的，但比起一些科普书的翻译，可就小巫见大巫
有次在一本书上看到 CAT scan被译为「猫扫瞄」
CAT scan 是 CT scan的旧称，CAT = Computerized Axial Tomography
如果照这个标准，PET scan就应译成「宠物扫瞄」
