My lab studies two areas: social biology using ants and genome size evolution using C. elegans. See http://biodiv.sinica.edu.tw/en2007/index.php?pi=157 Qualifications: Masters degree. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and be familiar with standard DNA and RNA manipulations, including PCR, genomic DNA extraction, cloning/subcloning, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, and qRT-PCR. Experience with Southern/Northern blotting, screening libraries, microsatellites, genomics, bioinformatics, fluorescence imaging, and/or microinjections desirable but not necessary. Interest in C. elegans or ants also a bonus. Candidates must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Must be dependable, willing to learn, and can work independently. Job summary: Primary duty will be a research project adapted to previous experience. Initial project will entail molecular biology, microinjections, and genomics.
