Discussion Questions for Pepsico:
1. Use the information in the case to construct NPV and IRR analysis
on the proposed Changchun bottling joint venture.
Based on the result, what would be your decision on the proposed
Changchun joint venture? Are there any other alternatives
in entering China? Why is joint ventuer the best alternative?
2. What are the strategic objectives of PepsiCo and what are
the objectives of its Chinese partners?
3. Comment on the financial projections that PepsiCo used in its
captial budgeting excercise, especially the NOPBT Cap,
foreign exchange rate projection and the discount rate.
4. What differences might there be as to how the PRC partners do
the analysis versus Peipsi Co?
