1. V. G. Veseago, a physicist of USSR, issued a new idea of left hand
materials for the first time in 1968. Because both the permittivity and
permeability of the material are negative, the refravtion index is also
negative from the law n = √ε√μ. If a light incident from the vacuum
at an angle of 30 to the above material with refraction index of λ= -1.5,
please draw the direction in the material.
Does the total refraction effect exist in this materials when
the light incident from large angles? (note Snell's Law)

2. A physicist always runs the red light. However he argues that because the
speed of his car is too high, the red (λ = 700 nm) light becomes green
light (λ = 550 nm).
What is the speed if the phenomena do happen?

is shown in figure 2. Calculate

in detail.

long?
