西概：
1. Read (or reread)the introduction to each section in Norton.
2. Read through Edith Hamilton's Mythology if possible. If not,
try at least to cover "Introduction to Classical Mythology" and
Chapters 1, 2, 4(Prometheus and Polyphemus), 6(Orpheus and Eurydice),
7, 16, and 18
3. Read the introductions to Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides,
Aristotle, Virgil, Ovid, The New Testament, Augustine, and
Dante Alighieri(of the Middle Ages). Our section will begin with The
New Testament, Augustine's Confessions, and Dante's Divine Comedy. Read
Inferno 1, 4, 5, 26, 34, Purgatorio 1, 30, and Paradiso 33 when you can.

1. Listen to a recording(s) of spoken English on the Internet、on tape、
or on CD totaling one hour. You may choose whatever topic and format you like.
You can get some ideas on what to listen to on the Extras page. Write a brief
summary/ies of the recording(s).
Make sure you give the title、author/reader、and source (e.g. Web site name
and URL、or library call number) of the recording(s). The summaries are to be
handed in the first day of class of Spring semester.
2. Find a poem suitable for memorization. E-mail it to Ms. Chung.
