Why are the technologies of wind-energy being developed worldwide in this
century? Compare the advantages and disadvantages of on-shore and off-shore
wind energy.
2. EV (15 points)
Discuss SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity, threat) of Taiwan's development
on electric vehicles?
3. Nuclear Energy (15 points)
Please list three advantages of nuclear energy for electricity supply in
Taiwan.
4. LED (15 points)
Please explain the emitting principle or the basic theory of light emitting
diode (LED).
5. PV (15 points)
What are
(a) crystalline Si solar cells,
(b) polycrystalline thin film solar cells,
(c) organic solar cell?
Please also list the commercialized efficiency of each cell and compare thier
limitations.
6. Energy Storage (15 points)
(a) What is the energy stored in the air tank of 1m^3 with 700 bar and 300K?
Isothermal and reversible operation is assumed. The heat capacities for
air at constant pressure are Cp=29.10 J/(K.mol). (7%)
(b) Write down the reaction of positive and negative electrodes, respectively
and overall reaction for lithium-cobalt-oxide battery. If the average
voltage of the lithium battery is 3.6 volt and the capacity is 1000 mAh,
what is the energy expressed in Joule in this battery? (8%)
7. Energy Saving (10 points)
Please list five distinct ways to save energy in Taiwan.
