(the identity theory) and functionalism. What is Nagel's argument? (2)
According to your view, is Nagel's argument successful? Why?
2.(1)Nagel suggest "an objective phenomenology not dependent on empathy or
the imagination" as a first step toeard a better account of the subjective
aspect of consciousness. What does he mean by objective phenomenology? (2)
Do you agree with it and why?
3.(1)What is the Higher-Order Thought(HOT) theory of consciousness? (2)
Describe an example and ezplain how HOT theory accounts for the difference
between conscious and unconscious mental states. (3)According to your
evaluation, is this theory adequate? Why?
4.(1)How does the HOT theory explain phenomenal consciousness? (2)What is the
problem of radical confabulation against the HOT theory? (3)Discuss an
empirical case and evaluate whether this problem really refutes the theory.
