I like a look of Agony,
Because I know it's true-
Men do not sham Convulsion,
Nor simulate, a Throe-
The Eyes glaze once- and that is Death-
Impossible to feign
The Beads upon the Forehead
By homely Anguish strung.
中译 <我喜欢烈痛的脸孔>
我喜欢烈痛的脸孔，
因为深知其真实-
人不假装抽搐，
或佯装剧痛─
当目光呆滞─即是死亡─
无从伪装
额上汗珠
真朴的苦闷串成。
