Given the seriousness of diseases they cause in both humans and animals, little is known about their epidemiological characteristics. In this talk, we investigate the epidemiological characteristics of VTEC within a population of animals. By fitting mathematical models to the observed infection time-course of different VTEC serogroups, we quantify the transmissibility of VTECs and their sources of infections. Our results suggest that VTECs are short lived and different serogroups tend to vary in the length of time they are able to persist within a host. We also provide an estimate on the possible number of VTEC serogroups that might be circulating within the studied population but were not detected by our sampling procedure. 敬请公布 欢迎参加 --
