Abstract
Missing values can influence statistical analyses and it is important
not to neglect them. Although there have been considerable improvements
in dealing with missing values analytically (especially with the
development of multiple imputation methods), many assumptions have to
be made. Graphical methods are valuable for identifying patterns of missings,
for assessing their effect, and for qualifying conclusions, yet they are do
not seem to be used much. Why are these methods missing?
This paper describes ways of incorporating missing values into statistical
graphics and illustrates their application.
