In August 1572, Charles Ⅸ of France ordered the killing of the Huguenots in Paris. The Huguenot leader and his eldest son were both killed. The younger son, Jacques La Force, who was only twelve, escaped by feigning death, lying among the dead bodies throughout the day. As evening came he heard an old man sigh and say "Oh God will punish this." The boy stood up and asked the old man's help in reaching his sister's husband, Larchant, the captain of the guard, but the old man refused and took him to his own house. What the boy did not know was that Larchant had played a part in his father's death. Together with other good-hearted people, the old man helped the boy escape, complete with a false passport, and after a difficult journey the boy reached safety with his uncle. 一 五 七 二 年 八 月 ， 法 王 查 理 九 世 下 令 屠 杀 巴 黎 雨 格 诺 教 徒 ， 教 徒 领 袖 和 他 长 子 同 遭 毒 手 ， 幼 子 雅 克 ． 拉 福 斯 当 时 十 二 岁 ， 佯 死 躲 过 一 劫 ， 整 天 伏 在 屍 体 堆 中 ， 到 了 晚 上 ， 听 见 一 个 老 人 叹 息 「 唉 ， 这 当 受 天 谴 」 ， 就 站 起 来 ， 请 那 老 人 帮 忙 ， 送 他 到 姊 夫 拉 尚 衞 士 队 长 那 儿 。 那 老 人 不 肯 ， 却 带 他 回 到 自 己 家 里 。 雅 克 不 知 道 ， 拉 尚 参 与 杀 害 他 父 亲 。 那 老 人 和 其 他 好 心 人 一 起 协 助 雅 克 逃 生 ， 还 给 他 弄 到 假 护 照 。 经 过 一 段 艰 苦 旅 程 ， 雅 克 去 到 叔 父 家 里 ， 得 以 安 身 。 【 附 注 】 这 段 历 史 ， 就 是 着 名 的 圣 巴 托 罗 缪 节 屠 杀 （ St Bartholomew's Day Massacre ） ， 巴 黎 一 地 死 难 者 即 有 三 千 人 。 拉 尚 听 说 雅 克 未 死 ， 要 斩 草 除 根 ， 只 是 找 不 到 他 。 雅 克 後 来 成 为 名 将 ， 享 年 将 近 一 百 岁 。 -- 人类之所以伟大，正在於他是一座桥梁而非目的； 人类之所以可爱，正在於他是一段跨越与完成。 --
