1. What soil pH range do most crop plants prefer?
2. What are five most abundant elements in typical soil?
3. Grass requires a lot of nitrogen. Which of the following two fertilizers
should be used to fertilize grass?
a. 20-10-10
b. 10-30-10
4. Calculate the CEC of 1 g of a soil that releases the following
concentration of ions in the ammonium acetate test.
Ca2+ = 30.8 μg/ml
Mg2+ = 8.4 μg/ml
K+ = 2.2 μg/ml
Na+ = 6.4 μg/ml
Is this a good soil for agricultural purposes?
5. Prepare a figure of distribution of phosphate species as a function of pH
by using Excel (include the data sheet in your dued homework) and indicate
the fraction of each phosphorus species (αH3PO4, αH2PO4-,αHPO42-,αPO43-)
at pH 4.6.
