The proverbial foreign moon is certainly not more beautiful, but perhaps more charming. Another prickle to the commom muse: the foreign moon in fact also rises from the East. But one thing is for sure that the foreign moon does not mean the moon right overhead. The moon is appreciated from different aspects: the Westerner admire its mystic, poetic beauty while the Easterner worship its novelty. Increasing is people's fascination with the Western moon when their astronaunts make their debut nil-gravity walk on the moon. On the other hand, the Eastern Moon Lady, fortunately not ogled at by curious astronauts, remains a beautiful legend. This moon-theory goes beyond merely metaphysical field. A good example can be found in the recent Western mania for the Oriental Kung-fu, and likewise in our fetish of ABC, hip-hop, Hollywood movies, and so on. Another instance lies in our rushing through one English dictionary after another to seek the most spectacular English name; conversely, the Oriental character, Chinese in particular, is widely tattooed as a "cool" sign (the same reason for our youth to mumble hip-hop). Another stark contrast, too, testifies to this theory: while crowds of our youth bob their head and shake their body to ape the so-called break-dance, many blonde counterparts learn to sit still in meditation. Each takes the pleasure. That is what really counts-- no superiority, but pure enjoyment. Therefore, it does not make any sense to claim one's beauty over the other. --
