Marcus Camby has a partial tear of the meniscus in his left knee, and has
elected to undergo surgery on it later this week. More details will follow so
stay tuned, but a surgery for a meniscus tear can be a fairly clean procedure
and resulting time off can be in the
3-6 week range, in a best-case.
Obviously, things can be worse and this calls into question his season. Joel
Przybilla projects to be the better play long-term if his knee can hold up,
while Dante Cunningham will be the immediate beneficiary and stands to take
any minutes that Przybilla can't handle. Sean Marks could also get into the
act. The injury calls into question Portland's ability to trade him as he is
signed for this year and next, and will make $9 million next year. Anthony
Randolph also gets a boost with this news in the event he lands in Portland,
and makes for an interesting stash, though we wouldn't drop anybody of real
value to do it.
