MIAMI—The Heat was anxiously awaiting word whether starting power forward Udonis Haslem would be suspended for Game 2. Haslem was ejected in the second quarter of Game 1 Saturday for throwing his mouthpiece in the direction of referee Joey Crawford after a run-in with the Bulls' Andres Nocioni. "It was frustration," Heat guard Dwyane Wade said. "Udonis went to reach for [his mouthpiece] and missed it the first time, and in frustration threw it and it happened to be in the direction of Joey. "Udonis is tough, but he is not stupid. A lot of guys get mad and throw things, gum they are chewing. [He threw it] at one of the toughest refs in the world." Wade said he doesn't understand why Haslem uses a mouthpiece since it usually hangs from his mouth. "Hopefully, he'll get rid of it now," Wade said. Heat coach Pat Riley said he didn't expect a suspension and said Heat owner Mickey Arison, who is chairman of the league's Board of Governors, talked with NBA officials after the game. Haslem is important to the Heat because he's their only defender who works to front the post. Riley also said Alonzo Mourning continued to be game-to-game in his return from a calf injury. --
