http://tinyurl.com/kxg4zmc rom all indications, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Rockets general manager Daryl Morey smoothed out an apparent misunderstanding that arose during the heat of both franchises pursuit of free agent Dwight Howard this summer. In November, Cuban revealed that when it became obvious that Howard was going to sign with Houston, Morey sent Cuban a text, asking if Dirk Nowitzki was available in a trade. At the time, Cuban viewed it as taunting. “It was like 'na-na-na-na-na.' I don’t know if there were two nas in there or three. But they were in there," Cuban said in November. "I said, are you serious?” But on Friday during the MIT Sports Analytics Conference in Boston, Morey told attendees the reason he contacted the Mavericks was out of momentary “ panic” that Howard would bypass the Rockets. Morey said his concerns arose after Golden State surprisingly signed free agent Andre Iguodala choosing to sign with Golden State. Before Friday’s game against Chicago, Cuban said he and Morey talked through the situation long ago. “I believe him,” Cuban said. “There’s no reason not to. . . It’s over. No big deal.” Cuban joked that he actually liked the story better when it appeared to be a case of taunting. But how does Cuban explain Morey thinking that Dallas would even consider trading Nowitzki? “I don’t know,” Cuban said. “I went to Indiana.
