He won't try to incite anything with his old teammate, LeBron James. But he does think this year's NBA playoffs are showing again why trying to put together a so-called "superteam'' that is heavily laden with superstars is a dangerous thing. "What you're seeing in these playoffs is that the idea of 'team' is back in the NBA,'' West said. "The collective team is bigger than the one or two great players. You look at the Spurs and Indiana, those teams are playing like teams. "And I think that's good for the NBA. I think looking forward, the NBA is going to be at its greatest the next couple years because it's going to be anybody's game. For all Miami's superstar talent, the Heat is stuck in a 2-2 slugfest in the second round against Indiana, a team that has no superstar but a strong cast of good, rising players. The 6-4 guard admitted that he went through withdrawal after the Mavericks lost in the first round to Oklahoma City in four games. He said he's a little jealous of the teams still playing. "They're playing, I'm not, and they're getting better,'' he said. West also touched on a variety of subjects, including his thoughts on free agency. "It's in the Lord's hands,'' he said. "All I know is that it's always tough in free agency. I hope I showed this team and the NBA that I'm invested in the future. I kind of really found my groove this year and I'm still a young man, but I also have so much playoff experience. "I've been to the playoffs (almost) every year and I'm just going into my prime. Once I incorporate the floater into my game, I feel I'll be very valuable to anybody's team. In these playoffs, I see how deep all these teams are and a guard like myself could be very valuable. I've found a home here in Dallas. And I'd like to finish my career out here.'' He said he feels like he's helped rebuild his reputation off the court and hopes that the way he came back from his major finger injury will sway some people's opinions in free agency. "I'm just a valuable piece to a bigger puzzle,'' he said. "I can play multiple positions, I can come off the bench or start and I hope I've shown some of that and some toughness. "I feel like I've done my time. And I've taken a step back from the spotlight. I've done a lot of growing and I'm just going into my prime. I know who I am as a player and what I can bring to a team. I think I came back stronger after the injury. I started attacking the basket even with my hand being the way it was. Like I said, I'm praying that the Mavericks see all that.''
