Dirk Nowitzki: Out for weekend, keeps aggravating knee injury Posted at 12:20 PM on Fri., Jan. 7, 2011 Eddie Sefko / Reporter http://tinyurl.com/2bd64n4 Dirk Nowitzki spoke with reporters this morning and after ruling himself out for Saturday's game against Orlando talked at length about his sprained right knee and how it's been healing. "It's been frustrating,'' he said. "I felt like I could have helped the team in some of those games. It's hard to see your two best scorers go down.'' Nowitzki did some running on the court Thursday, he said, and that has convinced him and the medical staff that more time is needed. "I ran a little and as long as I have pain, we don't want to try it every day and keep aggravating it,'' he said. "So we'll shut it down for a few days. Hopefully I can get back into it soon. When it first happened, I never thought I'd miss two weeks. I was basically saying that I'd be back in a week. But I don't have a lot of experience with knee injuries, and that's a good thing. "Hopefully in the next few days, it will respond good and I'll be pain-free and ready to go.''
