"I don't care if guys are happy or unhappy about their minutes," he said. "When you're talking about winning at the highest level, individual needs for minutes and touches, if that stuff comes into the equation, then you got guys who aren't about the right things. "We address those issues if they come up, obviously. Anybody who presents themselves with that kind of selfishness isn't deserving of being in a Mavericks' uniform. This isn't going to be about role definition. It's going to be about role acceptance. "And we'll see the character of our team and the resourcefulness of our team. That's what's going to define us as a special team as opposed to a good team." The candidates for bench duty include Tyson Chandler, Shawn Marion and Jason Terry. All have started more games in their career than they have come off the bench in, although Terry has flourished as the sixth man the last two seasons. "My goal is to be sixth man of the year again," said Terry, who won the league's award in 2008-09. "Last year I was second [in the voting] and that's not good enough. "But if we got more guys on the second unit, all the better." Kidd ready to roll: Jason Kidd explained his disappointing playoff series for the first time on Monday. "I was sick," he said. "I was struggling with back spasms and I couldn't move as well as I wanted. My back is fine and I'm healthy and ready to go."
