He's even touched 95 mph, but he sacrifices control when he does that. Fastball movement: His fastball has good life. Curve: He's shown an above-average curve in the past, but it's been below-average this spring, without the bite he had last summer. Slider: With the curve not working, Walker has largely ditched it in favor of a slider. It's well below average. Changeup: He has one but doesn't use it often. Control: Inconsistencies with his delivery have hurt his command. There's hope that his athleticism would allow him to refine that over time. Poise: He's young and inexperienced on the mound but is competitive. Physical Description: Walker is tall, thin, athletic and very projectable. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: Projectability, athleticism, arm strength and glimpses of good secondary stuff. Weaknesses:He doesn't have a ton of experience on the mound. He's changed his delivery and arm action, leading to concerns about command and health. Summary: Walker has been a little bit of an enigma this spring after a very strong summer and fall in 2009. He'll show glimpses of the electric stuff that created a buzz back then, but he's struggled a bit to find a level of consistency. He can still crank up the heat on his fastball, but the breaking ball that looked so promising has largely deserted him. An inconsistent delivery has affected his command, though he still will show the ability to dominate.
