It was a triumph that briefly looked to have swung the title Liverpool's way, but ultimately proved a mere blip for United as they equalled Liverpool's record total of 18 league titles. - One year on, United are on course to surpass Liverpool's long-standing benchmark. That is justification alone for Liverpool fans to want three points against their old foes. - Liverpool's Albert Riera has accused Rafa Benitez of being in charge of a "sinking ship". He was suspended by the club for his outburst, but even Benitez is no longer guaranteeing that Liverpool will finish fourth, as he famously did in December. - He now simply insists his side will "try to be in the top four." A fourth successive league win over United could certainly be the catalyst for that to happen. - Fernando Torres, who turns 26 the day before this game, has been the figurehead for Liverpool's success against the champions in the past, flustering Nemanja Vidic to the extent that the Serb defender has been sent off in the last three meetings between the clubs. - United, of course, boast their own lethal forward. Wayne Rooney's 25th league goal of the season against Fulham saw him equal Ruud van Nistelrooy's best ever Premier League season's tally for United. Rooney has scored 13 goals in all competitions in his last seven games at Old Trafford. MATCH FACTS Head-to-head ‧ Liverpool are the only team in Premier League history to have beaten Manchester United in four successive matches (2000-02). Victory at Old Trafford would see Rafa Benitez's current side emulate this achievement. ‧ It is the third successive year that Liverpool have gone to Old Trafford in March. They lost 3-0 on 23 March 2008 (United's last win against them), but enjoyed a 4-1 victory on 14 March 2009. ‧ The fixture is Sir Alex Ferguson's 48th league match against Liverpool since his appointment in November 1986. He has won 20, lost 16 and drawn 11 to date. Man Utd ‧ Wayne Rooney has only ever scored one Premier League goal in 14 attempts against Liverpool - the winner at Anfield in January 2005. ‧ Sir Alex Ferguson's side have scored 26 goals in their last seven league matches at Old Trafford. ‧ It is now 699 minutes of league football since they last conceded at home, when Gabriel Agbonlahor scored for Aston Villa in a 1-0 win on 12 December. ‧ Only six goals have been scored in the opening 20 minutes of any of United's 30 league games to date, with the champions scoring just four of their 70 goals during this period. Liverpool ‧ Fernando Torres has scored four goals in the last week in all competitions. ‧ Liverpool are without an away league win in their last five matches, and have lost two of the last three. ‧ The Reds have failed to score in their last four Premier League away matches. It is 393 minutes since Sotirios Kyrgiakos scored in the 1-1 draw at Stoke City on 16 January. ‧ David Ngog's goal against United at Anfield last October is the latest to be scored in the Premier League this season. The Frenchman fired home after 95 minutes and 30 seconds. I tipped Chelsea at the start of the season, but if someone would let me change to Man Utd I would be very happy. I expect Benitez will play a flat back eight! The thing for Liverpool is that Torres is starting to look really sharp and dangerous and he frightens United. http://tinyurl.com/ybv7apm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/8570837.stm http://www.skysports.com/football/match_preview/0,19764,11065_3240314,00.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/8575361.stm -- ★ ╔╦═╮╔╮ ╭╔╮ ╭╔╦═╮ ╔╮╔╮╭╦═╮╔╮═╮ ☆ ☆ ╠╬╦╯╠╣ ║╠╣ ║╠╣ ║ ╠╣╠╣╠╬═╣╠╣ ║ ★ ★ ╰╝╰╯╰╝═╯╰╝═╯╚╯═╯ ╰╰╯╯╰╝ ╰╰╝ ╰ ☆ ☆ SCORING MACHINE︰ Ruud van Nistelrooy ★ ╔╮═╮╭╦╦╮╭╦═╮╭╦╦╮╔╦═╮╔╮ ╔╦═╮╭╦═╭═╦╮╮ ╔╮ ╠╣ ║ ╠╣ ╚╩╦╮ ╠╣ ╠╬╣ ╠╣ ╠╬╦╯╠╣ ║ ╠╣╚═╬╣ ╰╝ ╰╰╩╩╯╰═╩╝ ╚╝ ╚╩═╯╰╩═╯╰╝╰╯╰╩═╯═╩╯╰═╩╝ --
