[Manchester City start to make moves in January]
Manchester City may be 12 points clear in the Premier League
but it looks like they are not resting on their laurels.
For so long, Manchester City were linked with Alexis Sanchez,
but in the end Pep Guardiola’s side baulked at the figures that
lead the Chilean attacker to sign for Manchester United.
In recent days it seemed that Manchester City would hold
their considerable funds for the summer.
This now looks unlikely.

Manchester City may have lost out to Manchester United for Alexis,
but they have reportedly beaten their local rivals to Fred.
The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder impressed against City
in the Champions League and is set to go to Brazil
for next summer's World Cup.
Fred provides serious competition to Fernandinho
at the base of the Manchester City midfield
and could even give Pep Guardiola
the option of playing two defensive midfielders.

[Di Marzio announces Laporte to Man City]
The breaking news on Tuesday is that
Manchester City are also set to pay the release clause of
Athletic Bilbao defender Aymeric Laporte.
The 23-year-old has been on Manchester City's radar pretty much ever
since Pep Guardiola took over as manager.
Manchester City will pay 65 million euros for Laporte,
according to Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio.
It now seems likely that Laporte will arrive before
the end of the January transfer window.
This will provide competition for Manchester City's first choice
central defender pairing: John Stones & Nicolas Otamendi.
Vincent Kompany remains beset with injury problems.
Whilst Eliaquim Mangala has failed to impress even
in this awesome Manchester City side.
