当大拿宣布UFC 205 Main Card是Alvarez vs. McGregor之後 最悲情的应该就是Aldo了
在UFC194被McGregor 13sec KO之後 Aldo表示他唯一接受的bout只有两种:
(1) rematch with McGregor
(2) fight for the featherweight belt (if McGregor vacates his belt)
但McGregor拿到featherweight title之後一次title defense都没有
决定直接去挑战当时的lightweight champion--Dos Anjos
而Dana也决定让他暂时保有羽量级腰带
让他能有机会成为UFC史上唯一一位"同时"拥有两个量级腰带的人
(McGregor在Cage Warriors有达成这项成就)
後面的故事相信大家都很清楚了
Dos Anjos脚受伤-->Diaz递补-->Diaz无法即时减回155lb-->bout定在weterweight(170lb)
-->McGregor在UFC196第二轮被Diaz RNC降伏
一直被晾在一旁的Aldo在赛後要求McGregor回来跟他打re-match
但McGregor当时只想复仇 完全不想理Aldo 而当时Edgar状况也好 (5-win streak)
所以大拿决定让Aldo和Edgar在UFC200打featherweight "interim" championship
胜者再和McGregor进行title fight
(个人觉得没意义 说穿了只是一个用来安抚Aldo和Edgar的缓兵之计而已)
最终Aldo def. Edgar by unanimous decision @UFC200
而McGregor def. Diaz by majority decision @UFC202
Aldo心想:也该是时候让我打re-match了吧?
结果McGregor依然想创造历史 成为UFC two-division champion at the same time
所以再次不甩Aldo 表明想要打当时的lightweight champion--Alvarez
Alvarez在UFC Fight Night 90击败Dos Anjos via TKO之後
也表明他想要和Mcgregor/Diaz之间的胜者打 (money fight阿!)
但大拿认为应该要Alvarez vs. Nurmagomedov和McGregor vs. A1do比较合理
然而最後为了票房 还是决定让McGregor在能保有自己羽量级腰带的情况下去打Alvarez
Aldo觉得他被唬了 一个曾经将近十年不败的冠军被这样搞 实在咽不下这口气
於是决定提前终止和UFC的合约(本来还有六场要打) 然後退休(leave MMA not just UFC)
