From Koptalk Defender could Kop dream Liverpool move The father of Blackburn Rovers defender Lucas Neill has revealed that his son could be a Liverpool player before the transfer window closes. As exclusively revealed by KOPTALK last week, the player's agent Peter Harrison was due on Merseyside at the weekend to try and broker a deal for the 28-year-old Australian. Neill is out of contract next summer and Rovers may opt to cash in now rather than lose him on a free. Tottenham continue to be linked with the controversial player who was sent off at the weekend against Pompey, an incident which will have been noted by Rafael Benitez. The player's father Ed has admitted that his son could become a Red before the end of the month but as yet, nothing has been finalised. Ed Neill said: "Lucas has been a dyed in the wool Liverpool fan since he was a kid. "His heroes were players like Kenny Dalglish and Graeme Souness and, of course, if this move comes off, it will be a dream come true for him. "But any decision he makes will be made purely on football grounds, not on sentiment. "He'd assess any situation on its merits whether it was Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Real Madrid. "It's all about Lucas going somewhere where he can continue to progress. "Whether he goes to Liverpool or not is still unclear. He hasn't said anything to (his parents) over the past few days. "If it happens, that's great but nothing is certain in football until it's signed and sealed. "Like a lot of the Australian players, Lucas stepped up to another level.
