James, who has been playing through a broken nose suffered Feb. 20 at Oklahoma City, averaged 30.8 points in February along with 8.1 rebounds and 6.7 assists as his Miami Heat went an NBA-best 9-1 last month. He joined Wilt Chamberlain as the only NBA players to have averaged at least 30.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists while shooting at least .570 in a calendar month. One February highlight came Feb. 12 in a 111-110 win at Golden State, with James posting 36 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists, and hitting the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer. Griffin, the Clippers' dynamic power forward, ranked third among Western Conference players in scoring, at 30.0 points per game, and sixth in rebounding (10.7) as he racked up eight double-doubles for the month and extended his career-best streak of games with 20-plus points to 19. He had a 43-point, 15-rebound, six-assist performance Feb. 5 in a 116-112 loss to the Heat. The Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard was among the nominees for the Western Conference award. Other nominees were: Brooklyn’s Deron Williams, Charlotte’ s Al Jefferson, Chicago’s Joakim Noah, Houston’s James Harden and Dwight Howard, Indiana’s Paul George and David West, Minnesota’s Kevin Love, Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, Phoenix’s Goran Dragic, San Antonio’s Patty Mills, Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan and Washington’s John Wall.
