So, the Lakers own a 3-1 advantage over the San Antonio Spurs in the best-of-
seven Western Conference finals, a lead many consider commanding.
所以，湖人在七战四胜的西区冠军赛中，对马刺取得了大家都认为有绝对优势的3-1领先。
No way the Lakers can blow this series, right?
湖人不可能会让这个系列赛溜走了，对吧?
Well, not so fast, some Lakers are saying, because they have been down this road
before, blowing a 3-1 lead and losing a series they supposedly had command of.
恩...不要说得太早，有些人这样说。因为湖人曾经走过这段路，在系列赛中以3-1领先且大
家都认为他们该赢的时候搞砸了。
The Lakers can eliminate the defending NBA champions tonight in Game 5 at
Staples Center. Only eight teams in NBA history have coughed up a 3-1 cushion
and lost the series.
湖人可以在今天早上的第5战在史代普中心消灭卫冕军。历史上只有8个球队可以从坐在3-1
领先的沙发上摔下来的。
But the Lakers are on that list, having fumbled away a 3-1 lead against Phoenix
in the first round of the 2006 playoffs.

"It's more like nightmares than memories," said Luke Walton, one of seven Lakers
who remain from that team. "We were on Cloud 9. I think the difference between
that team and this team is we were so happy and excited, like we couldn't

the job is not done yet."

These Lakers were No. 1 in the West. The 2006 Lakers were the seventh-seeded
team in the West with a 45-37 record, facing the No. 2 Suns, a team that won 54
games behind MVP Steve Nash and reached the conference finals for the second
straight year.
现在的湖人可是西区第一呢。2006的湖人只是个拥有45胜37负的第七种子，对上的是赢了54
场的太阳队，且他们自从有了纳什就连续两年闯进分区冠军赛。
And perhaps even more importantly, those Lakers didn't have home-court advantage

After winning by one in overtime at home for their 3-1 lead, they had to go to
Phoenix for Game 5, a 17-point Suns victory that gave Phoenix momentum to come
back to LA to win Game 6 in overtime. Then, with the series tied, the Suns
routed the Lakers in Game 7 in Phoenix.
在主场经过延长赛取得领先的湖人，必须要到凤凰城打第5战，而太阳以17分之差击败了湖

These Lakers grabbed their 3-1 lead with a hard-fought win in San Antonio and
now can close out the series at home. If not in Game 5, then in Game 7, if
necessary.
现在的湖人经过一些激战对马刺取得3-1的领先，而且现在可以在自家把马刺处理掉。如果
不是第五战，第七战也可以。
"We just want to play hard and do the right thing. At that time, we couldn't
get the right things accomplished, making the adjustments to match Phoenix's
adjustments," Coach Phil Jackson said Wednesday.

"This team is making adjustments," he added. "That maturity that they learned
in that series is helping them."

And it is why the Lakers are one step away from reaching the NBA Finals for the
first time since 2004, the last year of the Shaquille O'Neal era.

This Lakers team has had the help of another All-Star center, Pau Gasol, but it
is in this position mainly because it has grown up and learned how to win --
with the help of an MVP leader in Kobe Bryant.

拥有成长了且知道如何赢球的MVP抠比。
"Becoming the best is a process," said Derek Fisher, a member of that 2004
Finals team. "It's one that we're learning how to become. We didn't start this
season as NBA champions. We don't and didn't have a lot of guys that have been
to this point before, so there's no reason to believe we already knew how to do
this.
「要成为最好需要过程，」2004年冠军赛成员老鱼说，「这也是我们现在正在学习的其中之

Closing out games is a part of that. The Lakers took care of Denver on the road,
completing a first-round sweep. They took out Utah in six games in the second
round, winning Game 6 in Salt Lake City.

The Lakers see the Spurs as a different beast, a team not ready to give up its
crown.

"When you face a team that's in a must-win situation, they just play desperate
ball," Bryant said. "They play their hearts out. They play hard. They play
physical. San Antonio, they're the champs. They are going to be the toughest of
all to close out."

For the Lakers, it's about "staying in the moment," Jackson said.

what's going on."
