Sharman had started the year by putting Goodrich into the starting lineup, hoping to take some of the offensive burden off West. Goodrich (25.9 points per game) led the team in scoring, and West (25.8) led the NBA in assists (9.7 per game). Chamberlain averaged just 14.8 points but led the league with 19.2 rebounds per game.
