The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent forwards Marcus Douthit and Kimani Ffriend. Per team policy, terms of the contracts were not released. Originally drafted by the Lakers in the second round (56th overall selection) of the 2004 NBA Draft, Douthit appeared for the NBA Development League’s Albuquerque Thunderbirds last season, averaging 16.3 points and 8.6 rebounds before finishing the season with the Daegu Orions of Korea. A former standout at Providence who finished his career ranked second all-time in blocked shots in Friars history, Douthit, 27, also has played for Verviers-Peinster (2004-05) and TEC Spirou Charleroi (2005-06) in Belgium. Ffriend is a veteran low post presence who has played all over the globe, most recently for Inchon ET Land Black Slamer in Korea’s top league. A member of the Big 12 Conference All-Defensive Team in 2000-01 during his senior year at the University of Nebraska, Ffriend played with the Memphis Grizzlies Summer Pro League team in 2006 and averaged 3.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in two games for Memphis in the 2006 preseason. The 30-year old Jamaica native averaged 11.4 points and 8.2 rebounds in leading Besiktas Cola Turka to the Turkish League semifinals in 2005-06, and has also had professional stops in Israel (Hapoel Jerusalem), Italy (Casti Group Varese) , Serbia (Reflex Beograd), Puerto Rico (Gigantes De Carolina), Russia (Dynamo Moscow), China (Bejing Shogang), Venezuela (Trotamundos de Carabobo) as well as the NBA Development League (Greenville Groove) in 2001-02. --
