Kenyon Martin, who sprained his left ankle in Tuesday’s division-clinching win over Washington, and Tyson Chandler (neck) didn’t travel with the Knicks for a back-to-back set at the Bulls and the Cavaliers. As the Daily News first reported, the Knicks were close to making a minor move Wednesday to sign 6-8 free agent forward James Singleton, who played this season in China after averaging 3.9 points and 3.7 rebounds over 243 NBA games from 2005-12. Once Singleton’s addition is made official, a source said, the Knicks will cut injured veteran Kurt Thomas, who will undergo surgery next week to repair a stress fracture in his right foot. Marcus Camby (left plantar fasciitis) also has been listed as doubtful for the Bulls game, likely leaving Woodson with a small lineup that figures to feature 6-8 rookie forward Chris Copeland – or occasionally even the NBA’s leading scorer, the 6-8 Anthony — at center. Big men Thomas (foot), Amar’e Stoudemire (knee) and Rasheed Wallace (foot) are not expected to play again in the regular season, which ends Wednesday. Thomas, 40, the NBA’s oldest player, hasn’t appeared in a game since playing a season-high 27 minutes, knowing his foot was already injured, against Utah on March 18 Wallace has taken shots in practice in recent days, and Woodson said the veteran forward might resume running next week. Chandler will sit out Thursday for the 12th time in 16 games due to a bulging disc in his neck. “We have to nurse (Martin) back and we have to get Rasheed and Tyson and all our bigs; we have to somehow get a few of them back,” Woodson said. “But we’ve got time. We have five games left and we’ll play the guys that are in uniform. That means Copeland and (Steve) Novak have got to play big. That’s all.” The Knicks (51-26) tied a team record with 20 three-pointers in Tuesday’s 120-99 rout of the Wizards, their 13th straight win, with Anthony netting 36 points to match Bernard King’s club mark of five consecutive games with 35 or more. Anthony said after the game that he’d prefer to have Martin and the others sit out if it means getting healthy for the playoffs, jokingly adding, “I’d rather continue playing the ‘five’ (center) position.” After clinching their first Atlantic Division title since 1994, the Knicks lead Indiana by 2.5 games for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
